PRESS RELEASE

BOROUGH OF KINNELON REACTS TO SWINE FLU

Governor Corzine announced yesterday that there have been 5 confirmed cases of swine flu in New Jersey. The cases have been mild. There have been no deaths or hospitalizations, and the patients are expected to make a full recovery.

At this time, there is no need to restrict activities, and certainly no need to panic. It is key that residents use Standard Procedures for prevention, including hand washing and staying home when sick.  A “Cover your Cough” campaign should be reinforced at school, in the home and at children’s activities.  And lastly, everyone should stay alert to news releases proving updated information on the rapidly evolving situation.

Kinnelon officials are working hand in hand with State and County agencies to monitor the Swine Flu outbreak and to prepare for its affects on our area.  Local municipal officials, including the Health Department and the Office of Emergency Management are working with local school officials to ensure that everyone has the most current information.
