Football and Flag Flag football - (K-8th grade) Fall Program

You KNOW that feeling.

The chill in the air. The stadium lights cutting through the dark. The smell of fall. The sound of pads and the crowd and the whole town showing up because THIS is what Football Season is all about in Kinnelon.

That feeling comes in103 days but it starts RIGHT NOW.

This is the moment. The moment to be part of something bigger than any one player, any one game, any one season. Kinnelon Colts Football has been building something in this town since 1962 -- 64 seasons of families, players, coaches, and communities all connected by one path. Flag to Mighty Mites to Tackle Football. Generation after generation putting on those colors and representing something real.

This fall we enter our 16th season as a founding member of the TCYFL - a league we helped build from the ground up. And in that league, we carry a reputation we are incredibly proud of. The Kinnelon Colts are expected to be the premier program in the TCYFL - not just in wins, but in sportsmanship, class, and the way we represent this town every single Game Day. That standard doesn't waver.

That tradition doesn't just live on the field. It lives in the moments.

It lives in the Town Carnival - August 13–16 — when Kinnelon comes alive and you can feel the season building in real time. Families everywhere. Colts everywhere. The buzz in the air that only means one thing: football is almost here.

It lives in the Pep Rally - and THIS YEAR IT'S BACK, out on the high school field. The crowd, the lights, the noise. The players locked in and fired up and ready to go. The whole town showing up before a single snap is taken. If you've felt it before, you already have chills right now. If you haven't - get ready, because there's nothing like it.

It lives on Opening Day - the ceremony, the flag, the recognition of the seven branches of service and the families who serve. The moment before the moment. The one that reminds everyone why any of this matters.

It lives in "The Walk" - under those lights, in front of this community, with everything on the line for the High School - "Friday Night Lights".

It lives at West Point in October - one of the most electric atmospheres these kids will ever experience. Cameras. Crowds. Memories they'll be talking about for the rest of their lives.

And it lives in a tradition of excellence that this program never stops building. Our Peewees are coming back as defending Super Bowl Champions - they went out and earned it, and this whole town watched it happen. That's Kinnelon football. That's what this program produces. And that's what every kid who pulls on this uniform gets to be part of.

This is the culture. This is what we've built. And honestly? Just typing this note makes me want to go down to muni and wait for everyone to show up in August. That's how fired up I am for this season.

You'll notice some limited movement on the coaching side this year - but the heart of this program stays exactly the same. Leadership. Commitment. Teamwork. Camaraderie. That never changes.

Every kid. Every level. Every background.

That's what this program is about. We take every kid who walks onto the practice field and we develop them - not just as players, but as teammates, leaders, and young men and women who know what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves. It doesn't matter if your kid has never touched a football or never done a cheer routine in their life. We will meet them where they are and build them into something special. Because we are ALWAYS looking for the next great COLT - and we are always looking for the next great memory. That kid might be yours. Come find out.

WHO'S IN:

  • Flag - Kindergarten
  • Mighty Mites - 1st & 2nd Grade (full pads!)
  • Tackle Football - 3rd through 8th Grade
  • Cheer - Grades K–8 (registration closes May 17)

New for 2026 - Cheer now offers Sideline Only or Sideline + Halftime. More ways to be part of the show.

New families - welcome. Any grade. Any experience level. This community will take care of you. That's what it does.

Returning families - if you know a family on the fence, send them this. Tell them to stop waiting. There's a spot for their kid and this town wants them here.

Get Involved - We Need You.

This program runs because of this community - and here are two areas -- in addition to many others -- where we need your energy this season.

Media Committee - If you've got a good eye for photos, love shooting video, have a passion for social media, or want to help shape the look and feel of this brand, we want you. Every great moment this season deserves to be captured and shared. Help us tell our story.

Spirit Wear Committee - From design inspiration to sourcing to selling at the Spirit Spot on game days, this committee brings the Colts look to life. If you've got ideas, creativity, or just want to be part of the energy on the sidelines, this is your spot.

Reach out to me or Christine Carratello directly if you're interested in either. We'd love to have you.

ONE TEAM. ONE FAMILY.

AS ALWAYS, LET'S GO COLTS!

-Mike Wilson

Our Mission

We will provide a safe and positive playing experience for all of our participants while teaching the value of teamwork, dedication, discipline and leadership. We will continue the tradition of Kinnelon Football and Cheer while helping our players learn and grow together as a team — making friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. And above all, our mission and our focus will always be about what is best for the kids.
